This program is tailored to age groups U11 -U17 and is fondly known as Leduc Soccer's UNITED program. Players who wish to participate in the PREMIER program have to attend try-outs. Each team in these age groups should have 2 practices (between 60 - 90 minutes per session) and a minimum of 1 game per week in the Outdoor season and 2 practices (minimum 60 minutes per session) and 1 game per week in the Indoor season. Leduc Soccer also includes additional training such as Speed and Agility and Technical sessions. Teams in this program compete in Tiers 1-3. All coaches within the PREMIER program have formal certification and/or licensing.
Our philosophy is to use chronological age (birth year) as a starting point for player assessment; thereafter, we are guided by developmental age, which refers to the child’s stage of physical, mental, emotional and intellectual maturity. Additionally, there is a consideration for training age (experience with multiple sports) and sport training age (years spent in soccer). New players are encouraged to initially attend the try-out for the team which is chronologically appropriate. Thereafter, the athlete may also try out for an older-aged team after consultation with the Premier Director.
Leduc Soccer's PREMIER program is based on the Long Term Player Development model as outlined by Canada Soccer and Alberta Soccer. PREMIER focus on the next 2 stages of the LTPD, namely, Learning to Train (U11) and Soccer for Life Competitive (U13 - U17).
For PREMIER teams there is a fundraising commitment. This is to cover UNITED team gear, tournaments fees, specialty player training and coach expenses.
